Raj Dhesi, formerly known to WWE fans as Jinder Mahal, has been keeping busy since his exit from the company — and not just inside the wrestling ring. The former WWE Champion recently took to Instagram to share some major personal news: he’s getting married. Dhesi posted a series of photos alongside his fiancée, Priya, revealing their wedding plans with the caption, “Off to tie the knot! #ourbigfatdhesiwedding.” The couple appeared glowing in the snaps, capturing a moment of joy ahead of their big day. This isn’t the first time Dhesi has teased his wedding on social media. Back in late May, he posted that the ceremony was just a month away. Since then, he’s shared glimpses of a stunning pre-wedding photoshoot featuring the couple dressed in both traditional Indian wear and timeless Western outfits. Multiple Superstars Wish Raj Dhesi/Jinder Mahal Congratulations Several major names from the wrestling world have sent their congratulations to Jinder Mahal following his big announcement. Stars like Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Natalya, Matt Cardona, and many others showed their support by liking his Instagram post and sharing their well wishes in the comments as he prepares to tie the knot. Will Raj Dhesi/Jinder Mahal join AEW? Raj Dhesi, formerly known as Jinder Mahal in WWE, has opened up about his current status as a free agent and whether All Elite Wrestling has shown interest in bringing him in. Speaking at For The Love of Wrestling with Monopoly Events’ Jamal Niaz, Dhesi revealed that while he’s received plenty of fan speculation about a potential AEW run, no official outreach has been made by the company. > “AEW? Not at an official level. Nobody has on a really official level,” Dhesi said. “Right now, I’m just enjoying myself. I was under contract for so many years, and honestly, I wish we had this current WWE schedule back then — less emphasis on live events. We were worked pretty heavily.” Since his WWE release in April 2024, Dhesi has kept busy with appearances across the independent scene, including a notable showing in GCW. While he hasn’t signed with another major promotion just yet, he seems to be enjoying the freedom that comes with stepping away from the grind of WWE’s full-time schedule. Brock Lesnar has had numerous memorable feuds throughout his WWE career. However, his program against Zack Gowen still stands out in the minds of all Ruthless Aggression Era fans. Zach Gowen may have only had a brief run in WWE, but his legacy is etched in wrestling history. As the first and only one-legged competitor in WWE, he stood out during his memorable feuds with Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar in the early 2000s. Though he was released from the company in 2004, Gowen continued to wrestle on the independent circuit, with his last televised WWE appearance airing back in October 2003 on SmackDown. Now, over two decades later, Gowen made a surprise return to mainstream wrestling on the May 8 edition of AEW Collision, followed by a match against Ricochet on the May 14 Dynamite: Beach Break special. Speaking on a recent episode of Hey! (EW), Gowen was asked—jokingly—if he thought his new bleached hair might make him unrecognisable to fans. But the former WWE star gave a more heartfelt response, revealing that his real concern was that an entirely new generation of wrestling fans might not know who he was at all. > “I was afraid people wouldn’t recognize me because I haven’t been on television in 22 years,” Gowen admitted. “There’s a whole new generation of fans that have zero idea who I am.” Zack Gowens On returning after 22 years: In a separate interview with Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Gowen opened up about what it means to return to the national spotlight after so long. > “I haven’t been on a national platform like this since I was 20 years old in WWE,” he said. “Now at 42, with everything I’ve learned, I have such a greater appreciation for the gift that’s being presented to me. At the foundation of everything I do, it’s gratitude.” Gowen’s return may have come as a surprise, but his story—and his perspective—continues to resonate with fans old and new. The Story of Brock Lesnar vs Zack Gowen Gowen’s feud with Lesnar in WWE was one of the most unique and emotional storylines of the Ruthless Aggression Era. Debuting as WWE’s first one-legged wrestler, Zack Gowen quickly found himself targeted by Brock Lesnar, who was then the dominant WWE Champion. Their rivalry began in mid-2003, with Lesnar brutally attacking Gowen on multiple occasions, showcasing the intense physical contrast between the two. Despite Gowen’s underdog status and real-life disability, he refused to back down, earning fan support for his resilience and heart. The feud culminated in a memorable match at SmackDown in August 2003, where Lesnar viciously dominated Gowen, eventually defeating him in a display meant to generate maximum heat. Though brief, the feud made a lasting impact, highlighting Gowen’s courage and Lesnar’s merciless heel persona. It remains a powerful example of storytelling in wrestling, where real-life adversity was woven into compelling drama. Jey Uso losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther hasn’t gone down well with many people. One of them being his father Rikishi. The WWE Hall of Famer isn’t holding back — and this time, the fire is aimed directly at WWE’s creative team. On the latest episode of his Off The Top podcast, the former Intercontinental Champion unleashed a passionate defense of his son, Jey Uso, following the abrupt end of Uso’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship reign on this past Monday’s Raw. The Yeet Master’s first taste of world title gold lasted just 51 days, as he fell to Gunther in a crushing submission loss. Rikishi, clearly frustrated, didn’t mince words. > “You have a kid who put his heart and soul into getting to the main event. And when he finally gets there? You don’t give him a fair shot. You didn’t do him justice.” Citing Jey’s strong merchandise sales and growing fanbase, Rikishi questioned why WWE failed to invest creatively in the former champion. In his eyes, creative dropped the ball — and badly. > “You didn’t feed this champion the right talent. You didn’t protect him. Fifty-one days and it’s done? That’s not a reign — that’s an experiment gone wrong.” Rikishi noted that Jey defended the title only twice after WrestleMania 41 — defeating Logan Paul and walking away with a DQ against Seth Rollins. And then… nothing. A cold streak of booking decisions that the Hall of Famer believes undermined everything his son had worked for. > “If you can’t come up with something simple to push a champion — your champion — then get the hell out of the way,” Rikishi said with intensity.“I say fire ’em. If you can’t write for Jey Uso, you can’t do your job.” Rikishi believes WWE would not treat John Cena or Randy Orton like this Rikishi compared the handling of Jey’s title reign to how WWE would treat top stars like John Cena or Randy Orton, suggesting that the same short leash wouldn’t apply if the roles were reversed. > “Would you do this to Cena? To Orton? No. So why Jey?” As for why the title change happened so soon, backstage reports claim WWE is lining up a marquee match for Gunther in the coming weeks — a decision that may have cut Jey’s reign short. Still, for Rikishi, it doesn’t add up. > “You decided to put that belt on him. Then suddenly, the vision disappears? That ain’t how you build stars.” Whether WWE responds to Rikishi’s blunt call for a shake-up remains to be seen. But if one thing’s clear, it’s this: The Hall of Famer believes his son deserved better — and he’s not afraid to say it. Also Read: Bryan Danielson opens up about his relationship with Vince McMahon
Former WWE Champion and current AEW star, Bryan Danielson, has had a complicated relationship with former WWE Honcho, Vince McMahon, and opened up about complicated feelings toward Vince McMahon amid allegations: In a recent interview, he said that he finds it difficult to reconcile his personal experiences with Vince McMahon in light of the serious allegations currently facing the former WWE Chairman. McMahon has been accused of sexual harassment and sex trafficking by former WWE employee Janel Grant, in a lawsuit that has rocked the wrestling world. The situation is even more complex for Danielson — not only did he serve under McMahon during his time in WWE. But John Laurinaitis, a co-defendant in the lawsuit, also previously married Danielson’s mother-in-law, Kathy Colace. Bryan Danielson opens up about Vince McMahon In a candid appearance on MJ In The Midday, the AEW star spoke carefully but honestly about the emotional difficulty of the situation. “There are things that are sensitive to my family,” Danielson said, noting that he wouldn’t speak in depth out of respect. Still, when asked directly about his working relationship with McMahon, he offered a nuanced take. “There’s the idea of ‘career’ and what he did for my career, and I consider that kind of a separate thing,” he said. “When I’m looking at Vince McMahon, the human being, how he was to me when I was backstage — we’re also talking about a guy who, when my dad passed away, gave me the best hug I had ever gotten.” The host pointed out how McMahon famously pushed Bryan Danielson to the main event of WrestleMania 30 — a career-defining moment for the former WWE Champion. Danielson acknowledged his gratitude for that opportunity, but clarified that career success was never his ultimate goal: “I’m somebody who is not necessarily concerned with career advancement. Being a World Champion was never this thing I aspired to. I loved the fact that I could do this thing that I loved and make a living doing it.” Bryan Danielson on why it’s hard for him to fathom the allegations against Vince McMahon The former AEW Champion went on to express his inner conflict over Vince McMahon. He said it is hard to reconcile his experiences with the man at the center of serious accusations. “There is his treatment of me as an employee, but there was his treatment of me as a human being, and that’s the part that is hard to rectify with the things they are accusing him of,” he admitted. “The way he treated me as a human — he treated me very well, in a way that is kind of hard to describe to people who are coming at you from a negative perspective of Vince McMahon. But yes, there are also negative aspects about Vince McMahon.” In addition to reflecting on McMahon, Bryan Danielson also gave a brief update on his health and current in-ring status. Though he didn’t go into extensive detail. For now, his focus appears to be on staying present, navigating personal challenges, and continuing to perform at a high level in AEW. Pat McAfee Considering New Project Amid WWE and ESPN Commitments Pat McAfee has been a fixture on WWE programming for some time, primarily serving as a commentator on the RAW brand alongside Michael Cole. Known for his infectious energy and charisma, McAfee occasionally steps into the ring — most recently against Gunther at Backlash — and continues to draw mainstream attention to WWE through The Pat McAfee Show. Outside the squared circle, McAfee remains a prominent figure in sports media. He is a key part of ESPN’s College GameDay and still has around two years remaining on his current contract. According to The Athletic, McAfee has reportedly discussed the idea of launching an independent version of College GameDay with close associates. While this wouldn’t be an immediate move due to his existing ESPN commitments, it’s a concept that seems to be gaining traction. What this means for his future with ESPN — and whether The Pat McAfee Show might follow suit in breaking away — remains unclear. Who could replace Pat McAfee as the color commentator on RAW? Despite his growing portfolio of projects, McAfee has consistently expressed his love for WWE and his role within the company. Even if he pursues an independent sports show, it’s unlikely he’ll walk away from professional wrestling entirely. His passion for WWE and the opportunities it provides have made him a valuable part of the broadcast team. That said, McAfee was notably absent from the most recent episode of RAW, with Wade Barrett filling in on commentary — a move that naturally raised questions about his future plans. McAfee has taken long sabbaticals before, and might do so again. Or he could be done with the company and focus solely on his upcoming projects. In such a case, Corey Graves would be the perfect choice to replace him. Graves has past experience as the color commentator on RAW and has good chemistry with Michael Cole. For now, it appears McAfee is simply exploring his options while maintaining his commitments. Whether this turns into a major shift or just another creative venture remains to be seen. Jey Uso’s fairytale reign as WWE World Heavyweight Champion came crashing down on the June 9 edition of Monday Night Raw. In a shocking turn of events, Der Ring General — Gunther — reclaimed the gold, forcing Jey to submit in the center of the ring. Jey Uso had some interesting words for his rival after the bout. The loss wasn’t just about Jey falling short — it was about WWE shifting gears. The Yeet Master’s time had to come to an end because of the impending return of a former Universal Champion – Goldberg. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this title change wasn’t originally planned. But Triple H made a game-time decision to elevate the stakes for an even bigger showdown: Gunther vs. Goldberg — now officially a title match — set for July 12 at Saturday Night’s Main Event. That same night, AEW will host All In, and WWE clearly intends to swing back hard. Goldberg has reportedly been training for months for his farewell, although he recently admitted he’s battling physical limitations — particularly struggling to run without severe pain. Yet, even with his body failing, The Myth isn’t backing down. Whispers suggest that Goldberg might sport different ring gear for this final war — perhaps a symbol of his evolution from dominant WCW destroyer to a mythic, battle-worn warrior writing the last page of his legacy. All roads now lead to July 12, where Gunther’s iron rule collides with Goldberg’s final stand. His last match in WWE took place in 2022 against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber, which he lost. Will Gunther be able to retain the World Heavyweight Championship he won from Jey Uso? It can be called Jey Uso’s bad luck that his title reign had to be cut short because Triple H wanted Gunther vs. Goldberg to be for the World Heavyweight Championship. What is a bit perplexing is that making the bout a title match makes it clear that Goldberg will lose… unless Triple H is planning a major swerve. Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling podcast stated that Der Ring General should ‘destroy’ the former WCW Champion in order to establish himself as the most dominant man on the roster. ”Goldberg beat Lesnar. Goldberg beat Bray. Goldberg, he beats people. Now, if you want to stay true to the Gunther character, that would be the thinking going in like, I would love that if we went in going, ‘Oh man, they ended Jey’s title reign just to put the title on Gunther so that Goldberg could beat him’, and then Gunther just destroys him.” The Austrian superstar might have appeared weak if he had lost to Jey Uso on RAW last week, and therefore not a credible threat to the returning Goldberg. The other explanation could be that Bill Goldberg explicitly asked Triple H to compete in a title match. Also Read: 5 Best John Cena vs CM Punk Matches in WWE – Ranked and Rated

Now, as destiny brings them together one final time at Night of Champions 2025 in Riyadh for the Undisputed WWE Championship, we rewind the clock and revisit the five most unforgettable collisions between these two larger-than-life gladiators. Here are 5 Best John Cena vs CM Punk Matches in WWE: #5 – CM Punk vs John Cena – SummerSlam 2011 The match came about when CM Punk returned to WWE after months of absence, after having ‘taken’ the WWE Championship with him when he left. In the meantime, Cena was crowned the new WWE Champion. This match was made to unify the two WWE titles and crown a single champion. With Triple H as the special guest referee, Punk and Cena tore the house down in a main event that felt almost as big as WrestleMania. Near falls, stiff shots, and dramatic pacing made it a technical showcase. Punk got the win — but not without controversy. Cena’s foot was on the rope, unseen by Triple H. Then, Kevin Nash attacked Punk post-match, opening the door for Alberto Del Rio to cash in his MITB contract. The night ended not with celebration, but in tragedy. Ratings and Stats: ???? John Cena (via pinfall) #4 – John Cena vs CM Punk – RAW (August 22, 2011) Fresh off their SummerSlam classic — and Alberto Del Rio’s cash-in — Cena and Punk were right back at it, battling for a shot at revenge at Night of Champions. What followed was a high-energy sequel, packed with near-falls and a crowd glued to every reversal. Punk hit the GTS. Cena survived. Cena hit the AA. Punk kicked out. This wasn’t about wrestling. This was a psychological chess match wrapped in suplexes and slaps. The two traded heavy shots, with each man kicking out of the other’s finisher. But just when the match peaked, the moment was hijacked. Kevin Nash appeared yet again like a shadow from the past. One distraction later, John Cena hit the AA. Storytelling may have been murky, but the action was superb. This wasn’t the climax — it was the chaos after the storm. Ratings and Stats ???? WrestlingPunch Rating: 3.5/5 ???? CM Punk vs John Cena – Night of Champions 2012, was one of the best John Cena vs CM Punk matches in WWE It was the final chapter of their pay-per-view rivalry, and both men knew it. Cena was back in his hometown. Punk was now a fully-formed heel with Paul Heyman whispering in his ear and an unrelenting desire to be respected as the best. This match was a masterclass. Punk controlled the pace, outsmarted Cena, and countered almost everything. Cena, in turn, dug deep — adding new weapons to his arsenal. A suicide dive? A top rope German suplex? Not vintage Cena — evolved Cena. Apart from battling Punk, Cena also battled accusations of having just four moves in his moveset. Both men kicked out of every finisher, reversed every submission, and dragged the audience into an emotional hurricane. In the end, Cena hit a top-rope suplex and hooked Punk’s leg — but his own shoulders were down too. Double pin. No clear winner. No redemption. Punk retained, but the war was too close to call. John Cena vs CM Punk – RAW (February 25, 2013) This was the last time they’d face off before Punk left the company, and what many believed to be their last match ever. And it wasn’t for gold — it was for immortality. The right to headline WrestleMania. The Rock waited, but the real main event was happening on free TV. Cena and Punk went to war one last time — both men with full knowledge of each other’s playbook. So they dug deeper. Cena hit a hurricanrana — yes, a hurricanrana. Punk brought out the Piledriver. It was desperation wrestling from two men who refused to blink. But when the dust settled, it was Cena who rose. A rare high-risk move followed by the AA gave him the win. Punk lost, and with it, his final shot at the main event he believed he deserved. What made the match even more intense was the backstage knowledge of how The Best In The World was very unhappy with The Rock’s return and his WrestleMania main-event spot taken away from him. Losing this match was, in ways, the final nail in the coffin of Punk’s WWE career. Wrestling is about moments. This was the end of one of its greatest rivalries… or so we thought! John Cena’s retirement tour has been nothing like what fans had hoped for. Instead of the ‘Super Cena’ we all hoped for, we received a sub-par heel version of THE GOAT and now await a John Cena babyface turn. The 17-time World Champion returned to WWE this year in what will be his final run with the company. The 17-time World Champion has announced that he will permanently retire after his last match in the company, scheduled for December 2025. Cena turned heel by attacking Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber and aligning with The Rock and Travis Scott. A move which had the WWE Universe scratching its head. He then went on to win his record-setting 17th World Championship in WWE at WrestleMania 41. However, after months into his heel run, the fans have already grown tired and want to see the return of the babyface John Cena in his full exuberance. This is the nostalgia fans were hoping for this year. Let’s take a look at 5 ways John Cena could finally turn babyface in his retirement tour: 5) A match with Logan Paul Cena recently teamed up with Logan Paul to take on Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes at Money in the Bank. While Rhodes and Uso were on the same page, issues cropped up between Cena and Paul during the match, leading to a heated exchange between the two men. Though Cena is set to face CM Punk next, The Moment Maker, Logan Paul will not forget how Cena humiliated him during the match and even cost them the match itself. Despite being a heel, the crowd will undoubtedly cheer Cena when he feuds with Paul. During the buildup to the match Cena could subtly start showing traces of his old personality as he gets into word wars with the Influencer. Being the most hated heel in the company, Paul could get obnoxious and target Cena’s age and career, leading The GOAT to retort with his usual fan-favourite quips, thus turning him back to a babyface. 4) An old friend teaches him a lesson Cena has had a storied career and gone through many battles in his run. He has already faced and defeated one of his long-time rivals, Randy Orton, at Backlash. The Viper has been missing in action since his loss to Cena. Orton could return and try to talk some sense into Cena. While The GOAT was unwilling to listen to his old nemesis the first time around, he might be more willing to change his ways this time. The Viper could remind Cena about the values he once stood for and how he is tarnishing his legacy during his final run. Despite showing resistance initially, Orton would slowly but steadily convince Cena to shed his evil ways in a long-term arc. 3) Feud with Seth Rollins and his goons A classic babyface turn often involves battling a despicable villain, and a heel faction like Seth Rollins’s new faction could be Cena’s perfect foil. The storyline would begin when Cena returns on RAW after his match with Punk, and getting attacked by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed at the behest of Rollins. This shocking visual, rare for Cena, would ignite fan sympathy. Cena’s promos should blend defiance with vulnerability, acknowledging his limited time (“I’ve got one year left, and I’ll spend it fighting for you”) while calling out Rollins’ cowardice. The feud would escalate through a series of matches, with Cena facing members like Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, each encounter showcasing his heart. This storyline would leverage Cena’s underdog appeal and The Visionary’s heat, ensuring fans rally behind him. It will also give fans golden promos between Cena and Paul Heyman. 2) Loss to Cody Rhodes opens John Cena’s eyes Cena’s character change happened because of his desire to beat The American Nightmare and become a 17-time WWE Champion. While he succeeded in doing that, he lost a part of himself which was loved by the fans. It has been speculated that Cody Rhodes will get his rematch against Cena at SummerSlam this year. Despite his hate for the fans, the WWE Universe still continues to cheer for Cena. A well-fought loss against Cody could lead to Cena getting an ovation from the live crowd. He could shake his old rivals’ hands after the match, turning himself a babyface. The next day on RAW, humbled by his defeat, Cena could realise the error of his ways. He would be ‘man enough’ to admit that he had taken the wrong path in pursuit of power. But would now repent for his actions and do his best to be the version of himself that the fans love. While Rhodes would be the perfect man for this scenario, a recent heel-turned-babyface superstar could also be a good choice for this angle. 1) Standing up to The Rock Would Lead To A John Cena Babyface Turn John Cena turned heel at the behest of The Great One. But The Rock has been nowhere to be found since prompting Cena to low blow Cody Rhodes. When Cena aligned with him at Elimination Chamber, fans were excited to see a faction involving two of the biggest megastars in the company’s history. But what we got was a watered-down version of John Cena and an MIA Rock. Not the best situation. Storyline-wise, The Rock could finally return and try to press Cena under his thumb. Essentially, trying to make the 17-time World Champion his lackey. Rocky could use his classic mind games and tricks to tell Cena that he is WWE Champion only because of The Rock. However, after getting tortured by The Brahma Bull for weeks, Cena would finally have enough and snap. He would attack The Rock and tell him that he doesn’t need an alliance with him. The fans would go crazy to see their hero finally stand up to the evil corporate boss trying to manipulate everything. Also Read: Dishearteneing Reason Behind R-Truth Being Let
On a night that was supposed to be his crowning moment, Jey Uso walked into RAW as World Heavyweight Champion… and walked out empty-handed after holding the World Heavyweight Championship for a mere 51 days. The Main Event was anything but triumphant this week, falling short in a brutal battle against Gunther — a war that ended with Jey being choked out cold by The Ring General. The match took everything out of him, and once he came to, Uso re-entered the ring with his son by his side and poured his heart out on the mic. “I’m sorry to my son. I’m sorry to everybody here. I fought my a** off.” It was raw, it was real, and it hit different. Even in defeat, Jey showed class — giving Gunther his flowers in a moment that had the crowd silenced. Jey Uso’s run as the World Heavyweight Champion came to an end on RAW It’s no secret that Jey Uso came into RAW banged up. He ate a nasty hook from Logan Paul on SmackDown and got flattened by an Acai Moonsault at Money in the Bank during his tag team match with Cody Rhodes against Logan Paul and John Cena. The bruises showed. The exhaustion was real. But the fight? Still all heart. Unfortunately, Gunther smelled blood and capitalised. The Main Event tried his best to defeat his arch-rival Gunther yet again, but was unsuccessful. The Ring General choked out Uso much like Uso had done to him at WrestleMania 41. Sure, fans are gutted that Jey didn’t retain. But if there’s one thing he’s proven over the last year — it’s that he’s built for the top. And even when the lights dim, you can bet Main Event Jey Uso will rise again. What could be next for Jey Uso? Uso might take a brief hiatus to regroup, similar to Cody Rhodes after a title loss, returning near SummerSlam 2025. Another compelling direction involves Uso rejoining SmackDown to align with Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu in the escalating Bloodline civil war against Solo Sikoa’s faction. This reunion could culminate in a Survivor Series: WarGames match, leveraging Uso’s family ties and fan support. Whatever path WWE chooses, Uso’s charisma and “Yeet” movement ensure he remains a top babyface, with opportunities in singles or tag team divisions.
