Britt Baker Allegedly Set To Join WWE After AEW Exit

In a major shake-up to the landscape of women’s wrestling, former AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker may be on the brink of leaving All Elite Wrestling for WWE. The bombshell comes courtesy of ex-WWE commentator Jonathan Coachman, who shared the update on his Behind The Turnbuckle podcast. According to Coachman, Baker’s AEW exit is “imminent”, and a WWE deal is nearly finalized.

Coachman’s report comes amid mounting speculation about Baker’s future. The D.M.D. has not appeared on AEW programming since November 2024, sparking questions about her status with the company.

The Doctor ‘frustrated’ with AEW?

Her prolonged absence, paired with recent reports from PWTorch.com, paints a picture of growing tensions behind the scenes. According to the outlet, there has been “a lot of frustration with her” within AEW management, and she was allegedly suspended last year following a backstage altercation.

Here’s what The Coach said on his podcast:

Britt Baker was once the face of AEW’s women’s division—arguably the first homegrown female star to transcend the brand. Her title reign, sharp promo skills, and charisma helped legitimize AEW’s women’s roster in its early days. However, her momentum has waned in the last two years. With Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné now commanding top billing, Baker has quietly slid down the pecking order.

Would Britt Baker be a good fit for WWE?

If Coachman’s claims prove accurate, her potential jump to WWE would be monumental. It would not only signal the departure of one of AEW’s original cornerstones but also fuel speculation that WWE is aggressively recruiting elite talent from its rival promotion.
