Brock Lesnar threatened to kill former WCW Champion following his telephonic conversation with Sable

Brock Lesnar doesn’t do “calm.” Never has. Never will. And apparently, even a simple phone call can turn into a death threat when The Multi-Time WWE Champion is on the other end.

Lesnar went into a fiery rage after a conversation between Vince Russo and his wife, Sable. He had to call Kurt Angle to deliver a threat to Russo afterwards.

On the latest episode of Coach & Bro, former WCW Champion Vince Russo dropped a wild story—one where Lesnar nearly lost his mind. Why? Russo unknowingly called his house looking for Sable… and didn’t introduce himself properly.

“I wanted to bring Sable into TNA, so when I was in TNA, I called Sable. After my conversation with Sable, my phone rings immediately. It’s Kurt Angle, ‘Vince, what did you do?!’ I’m like, ‘Kurt, seriously, I have no idea what you’re talking about.’”

Turns out, Russo didn’t talk to Sable first. He talked to The Beast Incarnate. Without knowing it.

“Vince I just got off the phone with Lesnar, and he wants to kill you.”

Russo continued:

“What happened was, I called Sable, a dude answered the phone, how am I supposed to know the dude is Brock Lesnar?! I’d never met Brock Lesnar, I never had a conversation…it was Brock Lesnar. ‘May I please speak to Sable?’ He put Sable on the phone, then he calls Kurt ‘Who is this Vince Russo, I’m gonna kill him’ because I didn’t introduce myself, I didn’t know it was Brock Lesnar for crying out loud.”

The former WWE and WCW head booker could never have anticipated that a simple phone call conversation would lead to one of the most powerful men in the word be gunning for him. What’s worse is that Sable never did make it to TNA.

Vince Russo had tried to bring Brock Lesnar’s wife Sable to TNA as per Jeff Jarrett

In his podcast in 2023, former TNA Honcho Jeff Jarrett had stated that Russo and Sable had a cordial equation from their days in WWE. However, he said he wasn’t personally involved in trying to bring Sable into TNA. Here is what he said on the My World Podcast:

“My best recollection, Russo and her had their existing relationship from WWF days. It was Vince and her talking. The old conversation, ‘What if?, Are you available? Would you be interested?’ But,that’s as far as it ever got.” (H/T: 411Mania)

Sable was last seen in WWE in 2004 and has kept a low profile ever since. While she had a bitter falling out with the company, there were hopes that she might return as well after her husband returned to the company in 2012. However, that did not happen either.

What’s next for Brock Lesnar

Right now, Brock’s off the grid—enjoying retirement far from the squared circle. He’s still under contract, but thanks to the ongoing Janel Grant lawsuit involving Vince McMahon, his return is legally tangled up.

As of now, don’t expect The Beast to be suplexing anyone on TV anytime soon. But if history’s taught us anything: never count out a Lesnar comeback.
