Dishearteneing Reason Behind R-Truth Being Let Go By WWE Following Program With John Cena

Two seasoned names are preparing to take their final bows—R-Truth and Carlito are both on their way out of WWE. According to internal decisions, the company has opted not to renew their contracts.

Ron “R-Truth” Killings confirmed the news himself, sharing that he’s been officially released. Meanwhile, Carlito noted his deal has only a couple of weeks left before he too walks through the WWE curtain one last time.

Reason for R-Truth’s Exit:

This isn’t just about two departures—it’s about a reshuffling of the deck. Dave Meltzer, via the F4WOnline Daily Update, reports that this move ties directly into the next wave of NXT call-ups. The logic is simple, if a little cold: “When there are additions coming from NXT, there will be subtractions.” And in this evolving ecosystem, it’s often the underutilised or ageing talent who get the call—just not the one they want.

R-Truth’s departure has sent shockwaves through the company, as multiple talents have spoken up against his being let go by the company. Having just concluded a program with WWE Champion John Cena, it was believed that Truth would be featured heavily going forward, which made his abrupt exit even more surprising.

R-Truth and Carlito’s WWE Exit to make way for fresh talent?

We’ve already seen the writing on the wall earlier in May when the likes of Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Kayden Carter, and Katana Chance were all handed walking papers—clear fallout from NXT stars being moved up to the main roster.

Giulia, JC Mateo, and Roxanne Perez have since stepped into the spotlight on Raw and SmackDown, ushering in a new era with every entrance theme.

There are reports that more NXT Call-Ups, including those of Stephanie Vaquer and Jordynne Grace, are set to happen very soon.

And the next domino looks set to fall: Ricky Saints, known to many fans as the former Ricky Starks, is reportedly main roster-bound. After a strong showing in NXT, Saints dropped the North American Championship to Ethan Page on May 27—an intentional beat in the storyline that signals one thing: his time on Tuesdays is done. Expect to see him under the bright lights of Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown very soon.

While this cycle of outgoing talent and incoming talent is routine in any organisation, Truth’s release has been severely disappointing as the 53-year-old has been a loyal soldier for the company for such a long time.

For R-Truth and Carlito, this might be the end of the WWE chapter, but their stories in the industry are far from over. The game never stops. Only the players change.
