With Lilian Garcia stepping away from her full-time role, WWE has officially named Mark Shunock as the new Friday Night SmackDown ring announcer.
Following the March 14 episode of SmackDown, Garcia announced that her run as a full-time announcer had come to an end. However, she will continue working with WWE for Saturday Night’s Main Event specials.
On social media, Shunock—who is widely known as the in-house announcer for the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights—shared his excitement about joining WWE:
“Stepping into a new ring with @WWE. Thrilled to join Friday Night SmackDown. Mark ‘Nash’ will see you tomorrow night at @TheO2. #WWE #WWESmackDown #SmackDown #RingAnnouncer,” he posted.
Aside from his NHL duties, Shunock has also worked with the Las Vegas Raiders (NFL) and Top Rank Boxing, making him a familiar voice in the sports and entertainment world.
WWE SmackDown airs live on Netflix, and WrestleZone will provide coverage of tomorrow’s episode from The O2 Arena in London.
