Top Heel Superstar Reportedly Set To Turn Babyface Could Dethrone John Cena as the WWE Champion

John Cena has been on a roll ever since he became the WWE Champion by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41, but he could soon be dethroned. Despite him finally becoming a 17-time World Champion, his current reign has mostly been a miss. However, his predictable programs might soon come to an end if he starts a feud with a superstar reportedly set to turn baby face soon:

Jacob Fatu!

Cena turned heel ahead of WrestleMania 41 by aligning with The Rock and Travis Scott. However, his heel run, which was decades in the making, is showing why Vince McMahon did not turn him heel in the first place. His promos are monotonous and caricaturish. This isn’t what the Cena fans were hoping to see during his retirement tour.

As per Slice Wrestling, there are plans for the United States Champion Jacob Fatu to turn babyface. The Samoan Werewolf is already one of the most popular superstars on SmackDown. A babyface turn will solidify him as one of the most beloved individuals in the company.

With Cena becoming a wily heel, Fatu could pose as the perfect threat for the GOAT. It will not just be a fresh match that gets fans excited, but it will also put Cena in an underdog position.

Will Jacob Fatu drop the United States Championship before defeating John Cena?

Fatu won the US Championship by beating LA Knight at WrestleMania 41. He retained the Championship at Backlash with the help of Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo, even though he didn’t ask for it.

Despite still being part of Sikoa’s faction, there has been rising tension between the two men. Fatu had debuted as the ‘Right Hand Man’ for Sikoa, but ever since Sikoa’s fall, Fatu has realised he might just be better off on his own.

The rising tensions between the two men could lead to a match with Sikoa using shenanigans to win the US Championship from Fatu. This would let The Werewolf move past Sikoa and on to bigger things.

He could then have a showdown with John Cena and face him for the WWE Championship. A program with John Cena would place Fatu in the upper echelon of the card. Defeating Cena for the WWE Championship would serve two purposes: It would inject energy into a lacklustre main-event scene on SmackDown, and also start Cena’s babyface turn to end his retirement tour.
