Shotzi Blackheart recently opened up about her WWE departure and revealed the first person who reached out to her when the news broke—none other than Charlotte Flair.
The former NXT Tag-Team Champion was let go by the company as her contract was not renewed. She joined GCW and made her first appearance after her WWE exit on June 8, 2025.
Charlotte Flair praised by Shotzi
In a candid interview with Denise Salcedo, the former WWE star reflected on her journey with the company, her plans after her release, and her excitement about returning to the independent circuit.
While discussing the support she received after being let go, Salcedo brought up Charlotte Flair as one of the people who publicly vouched for her. Shotzi confirmed that Flair went beyond public gestures—she personally called her as soon as the release became public.
>“She was honestly the first person that called me,” Shotzi shared. “When that news hit, she was the first person to reach out. She said, ‘What do you need me to do? What connections can I pull? What do you want? I will help you.’ She has just been such a rock for me.”
Shotzi further revealed that her bond with Charlotte grew stronger during their time rehabbing injuries together. She recalled moments when Flair supported her emotionally during a difficult ACL recovery. “I was breaking down in tears, not feeling good, and she was there,” she said. “She truly cared.”
Details on Shotzi’s friendship with The Queen
Their friendship dates back to their first match together in 2021. According to Shotzi, they clicked immediately. She spoke highly of the 14-time Women’s Champion’s unmatched dedication, pointing out that even on non-televised house shows, the 14-time Women’s Champion would give everything she had, taking wild bumps and delivering at full throttle. “She gave it her all every single time, and I learned so much just by watching her work.”
As Shotzi embarks on a new chapter in her wrestling career, with dreams of a global indie tour, she remains grateful for the relationships she built in WWE—especially her deep, genuine connection with Charlotte Flair, someone she now calls one of her closest allies in the business.
